Somehow I really wanted to have a real AutoMag handgun in GTA IV, not just in San Andreas. One guy by the name of Lenol03 just made one here.
Truth is, the new revolution means not also cars that can have a locking feature. Weapons now do have a locking feature, making imports really impossible when using ZModeler. However, I did a small trick to get this model gone into editing: using the 3ds Max 7 with Kam Lai's plugin. Yes. Say, you want to model a ped. Why don't you want to model weapons from there? This is one of my crazy question because only GTA IV can model weapons in 3ds Max. San Andreas don't; in 3ds Max you can only model peds (cars deemed to be impossible because of the "non-standard DFF" issue).
Weapons can be imported because it comprises of a single model without hierarchy (only an object), except when it comes to the Enhanced Weapon Functions by Junior_Djjr; the weapon has animations to comprise real simulation of bullet ejection or folding bars of Sawn-off Shotgun. GTA IV doesn't yet implementing this to weapons, but only pistols, thanks to Krlos_Rokr.
The new revolution also have a locking feature on textures files, so old programs like TXD Workshop has no preview or cannot be opened. When I searched the Google, yuniwii (the author who made anime models in GTA games) provided download on the "Quick TXD Extractor" which said that it can extract even the locked TXD (texture dictionary) file. I haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot.
Idk much about popular authors, though. Lenol03 is one of the hundreds, thousands, or maybe more authors that can have its development continues by donating (via PayPal, of course), similar to the guy next door that I know, SkylineGTRFreak, which I haven't heard from few months since he moved on to V modding. He hasn't updated his posts much on his blog compared from when the San Andreas and IV was at its peak, on its glory of many users. Models provided are mostly locked, and the only way to get them is by asking questions. However, no e-mail address means it's a hard contact, and you'll need to be one of the members to ask about "can I ask you to send the model files to me, for modeling to other games?"
I checked his blog for few months and no new posts. Wonder why he disappeared from the public. Maybe he moved on to other real games, like Battlefield Hardline, but not one of the ninja games like NS:UNS4 (yeah I know, there's Boruto and friends in it, who's gonna hate?).
Skins for his aircraft mods are also made from various authors, and my question is: how they can get the hands of the template and create various skins from many world airlines/country's specific air force while myself don't have it?
