You know, for once in a while, I don't see a problem where file sharing services other than Google Drive and MEGA often offering ads, but what's more troublesome on those ads is that the ad is circumventing your work to a point that I'd say "bullsh*t". It's pretty much one level with tech support scam videos I've frequently visiting. Either end the browser from the Task Manager or close all the way in. Your choice.
But, let me tell you this: behind that ad page layers, you can easily get inside the page and fetch the download link easy as pie using Firefox's Inspect Element (in the new Ms. Edge, a.k.a. Edge Chromium, use Ctrl+Shift+I to go into the Developer Tools).
The only choice to stop that ad from appearing again is to report it - go to the three lines at the top right of the window, select Help and select Report unsafe website. Depending on your browser you will be taken to the page to report "phishing" page. I recently do that in private browsing separated from the main window (since my Firefox has both Adblock Plus and Webmail Ad Blocker add-ons, but I disabled it in private browsing since... you know, browsing histories that're related to ads will be deleted upon close).
It's indeed something that would make a change as a whole in browsing, since everyone knows that one isn't enough. There are TONS of ads like those; I've learned that from channels like Enderman and those related to tech support scams, like Jim Browning. The key is that, if the ad is f**king your browser, report it. Google or Microsoft will then handle the rest, assuming that you didn't open similar ads again.
I'd like to say, it's okay for file sharing services to provide ads on download links, like Mediafire, ShareMods, Zippyshare, Elsfile, etc., but apparently, Zippyshare is a bit annoying at this rate. If you understand the basics of HTML, apparently there's an additional layer on a layer that's used as a redirection or showing particular "closable" ads (pop-ups in a page, not in a browser) like those online news pages. Zippyshare is blatantly blocking the download link and the whole page by showing the invisible layer that redirects you to an ad that, if you're unaware, can f*ck your computer at some point. ShareMods is fine, however, but even though the link will direct you to choose either free or premium downloads, it still has a redirection code inside that page. This is where you need to act quick. Either close it or report the ad.
Well, all of those are for funding the providers, not just from the membership offer where you can by x dollars or euros per month. Not everyone can buy "exclusive" membership unless they have a good job IRL or using them for business matters.
Not that I want to complain about why the file sharing providers provide ads that you probably are not interested of, but if there's one that's quite annoying, report it and move on, just like how you report a cheater in Steam. In there, naming an account and shaming it is not allowed, so be careful about what you say in the forums.
So, I hope you find this piece of my rant informative.
