Long when I was an elementary school boy (like, 2006 or so), I once had this AC2 game for PS1, along with the World's Scariest Police Chases that back then it was so damn hard on mission titled "Sentence of Fire" that I gave up eventually on see how the story unfolds. AC2 game otherwise was another story.
Being a first-timer of playing this AC2 game was... well, I dunno what I was thinking back then. Also, the first time I have it, it doesn't have any background musics like it was supposed to be as of today, on the emulator I got from Tasikgame. And that time was when the Internet in Indonesia was not really so popular today. Now with the ISO I got from emuparadise... shoot, that 90s song was grade-A awesome.
On what I remember back then, I got plenty of games that even I and my brother played it, but bro preferred Winning Eleven and Megaman X4/X5/X6. Mine's random; first-timer game title of PS1 player was the NASCAR Rumble. Dunno what else I remember that day, though.
This AC2, though, it got tons of beautiful memories: landing precision on aircraft carrier, missile strike, and the "complete inaccurate" of machine guns. I remembered back then that I'm afraid of crashing the ground or getting up close for a machine gun kill because it may sometime crash your plane if you overshoot the speed between yours and the enemy aircraft, like the last time I played Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere on the emulator to bring back good old memories. The most notable plane crash because of the speed overshoot in that game is when you deal up with the enemy airship acting as an aircraft carrier. It had many variations of weapons that unfortunately only some of them implemented in the latest Ace Combat series.
Mostly that time when I played AC2, I used up all the missiles. No MG kills. However, as of today, I made MG kills, but only on transport planes and ground vehicles as fighter jets are quite hard in the old game. Unlike real flight simulator games like FSX or DCS: World, you have to be very close enough to get a ground kill with the MG.
Also, aircraft stall mechanic in AC2 was like I'm flying S-37 in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War as it it wasn't like Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 or planes other than S-37 that it can give you few seconds delay before the stall is imminent. It doesn't suitable to be stalled on low altitude flight as it'll insta-crash your plane. And yet, flying above clouds had to push your aircraft speed to above normal (or in afterburners).
In the end, though, that's all I can say, the difference between today and the first time playing this game and being one of the fans of Ace Combat, although there's always the haters who preferred the realism than fictional.
Likewise, I might as well change the perspective of the Ninja World to something else; maybe in the Ace Combat universe (although many fan fictions I read with Naruto theme also takes place in the real world, including in Japan)? YT channel Ace Combat Fan told that the countries in that universe are strangereal countries. From the map view, however, it might looks fit for the state of the world at the later Boruto: Naruto Next Generations episodes. Just need to figure out the states of each lands so that I might come up with better ideas for my next short story (I haven't yet watched "History of Emmeria" from that channel today).
Right now, though, idk what am I gonna do, but I'll have some fun on the Internet before continuing my usual shit, either watching YouTube on phone, gaming, or carry on my C2 project.
Actually, though, this is fun to see not only I who is the fan of the Ace Combat series, isn't it? Although I didn't get a taste on the games in platforms differ than PS or PS2 such as Xbox, Ace Combat 6 only be played Xbox 360 platform (GIYF). Idk much about other AC series, but Ace Combat: Assault Horizon can be played on my old PC and new PC.
