The End of G[B]S - thinking about plans on getting this blog out of retirement plan
I'm back with good news and bad news, to start with this blog post.
I'll just start with the bad news first just to explain what the title is all about.
TBH, my loyalty over the Blazededge's "Get Home, Be Home, Stay Home" Discord server, especially since my first ARSON Squadron rodeo back in 2021~2022, was worth it, to which I established a fame and a name for myself as one of the pioneers of advanced modding through trial and error procedures. I spent 3 years frequenting myself in that server that Blaze claimed to be his home, and I was quite happy that all these years, everything was sailing smooth...
until I got an announcement that the server owner himself, Blaze, has gotten his new low that I do not want to disclose more. Initially, the admins and moderators agreed to let him out of the server to sort things out, but it didn't go according to the plan as Blaze has come down having mental breakdown, going to turn away against the truth so that he will come clean and not to be blamed against.
It was happening at the time the 90th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day was ongoing, and the worst of all, it was closed down not on the next day as planned, but as soon as I woke up from my nap.
I'll be honest with y'all readers; "Get Home, Be Home, Stay Home", is MY home, even though it wasn't mine in the first place (the irony is also dawning on Blaze as well as he tried to stir up more drama by posting a kind of wall of text begging for mercy in Nexus Mods, to which it was taken down quick by one of the moderators); I was like a guest in someone's home that I find myself familiar in. It's been 3 years since I treat "Get Home, Be Home, Stay Home" Discord server as my home, a place where I share my mod developments and even my current activities (as well as other people that they consider one of the most active hubs of the Ace Combat community). Now with Blaze having breakdown (basically unstable, had relationship issues even after married and also have a child 🤦♂️), I'm basically sitting in a house that is going to burn down, and I'm the only survivor left to leave (while you still can).
People have suggested alternatives to go with this. Folks like Foxy and M4rkoz suggested me to head over to Nimbus Company, a server once set up by my old friend, Cipher, due to the problems rising around Ghost joking him by kicking him out of the server few times until he got flipped, now repurposed into a new AC7 modding hub. Some have also posted invite links to various servers dedicated to AC7 in general.
Me? After the deletion, I'm simply going into hiding, staying away from the modding community for God knows how long. Ghost offered me to join his small server hub, calling it "the Cottage", to which I took it before the invite expires. Was shared through the ARSON-only chat channel, so I'm sorta lucky that I can still get in touch with the people that once moderated the burnt-down G[B]S, now basically going bing chilling and relax, telling their daily lives in peace. I'm expecting this kinda peace though; no drama, no fights, just peace in mind, to which it basically comes down to "go touch grass" while making mods in the background.
Which basically comes down to good news. I'm expecting all the way towards releasing the best quality of my mods for AC7 since my move away from GTA modding (parents can watch me how I play, apparently 😅), and I got myself some kind of better compromise between those. I put my Trigger to Boruto mod as a long-term WIP project until the next Ace Combat installment comes out, and I even got a commission to challenge myself into one of the impossibles of the impossibles, swapping NPC ships and map asset.
One dude that I met (possibly Chinese/Taiwanese), goes by the name of etoshizuku, once proposed people to do not just a carrier map swap, but also some NPC ship swaps. I'm telling him that swapping such thing is difficult (I dare say), but not impossible due to the fact that, "if you can swap plane models, why not other models too?" Then it came to a realization that he comm'd several mods to several authors. One of them is the UH-60A that Urvo (Urvogel) made (a local modder) that swaps the CH-47 helicopter. Another is one of the F/A-18F skins by Lanzerince, another fellow local modder that I'd known since 2020~2021. TBR, it's no surprise that he asked me to do the impossible given that I've already made Mobius 1 Expansion Pack that basically compensating the lore of his appearance in missions where the original author, kokeo1, has added.
TBR, doing 7 ship swaps is no easy job, but I have to take care what's first to be done. There are mod updates that need to be wrapped up ASAP before I can log the user issues from people using my mods. The pay for the effort later was worth it, I'd say. Eto (the short for etoshizuku) proposed me to go with selections of carrier swaps that I can go with, and I'd say going with Gerald R. Ford sounds reasonable not because of it being high-tech in comparison with Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, but it's because it's the only aircraft carrier (IMO) Oseans would use if they do the fiscal year programme update or smth like that. I gotta be honest; would you feel bored yourself if Western aircraft carriers you see these days across Ace Combat franchises are always Nimitz? Kestrel, Buzzard, Vulture, and even some carriers that Aurelians used in 2025 are like, what, Nimitz? 🤣
The first 2 ships have been covered by my old-time friend and counselor, Megalith, to which the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer was swapped with a light landing ship from Project Wingman, and the Ticonderoga-class cruiser was swapped with Akizuki-class destroyer. Now, I'm going down all the way to do this just so to make up the price I pay for buying the Ford model 50-50 based on the agreement Eto and I made. I'm pleased that I don't have to spend a single penny just so to make up the half of the Ford model price I gotta return to.
Now, why 7? Apparently, he decided to add 2 swaps, to which Kirov will be swapped to the Zumwalt that has very little appearance in AC7, and Grigorovich Aegis will be swapped to the Burke 😦, all of which are provided in game that I can easily edit. Four other swaps are from the proposed-but-cancelled mod project that Hitori gal was trying to propose (Idk why she has no urge to make a payment through PayPal to make up the cost for buying such model pack of French ships). Charles de Gaulle will be for Kuznetsov swap, Forbin will be for Slava/Moskva swap, Aquitaine will be for Udaloy II swap, and Adm. Ronarc'h will be for Adm. Gorshkov swap. Absolutely wild, I'd say, since this is more like I try to do more of the impossible for the sake of a guy who wanted to propose whatever he has in mind for any reason.
Now this is where the respect comes in the way. I dare say that mod updates and RL comes first (like I always do), and I always tell if I have anything to share and be open-minded, especially since honesty in doing will always yield good fortune in the end. Pretty sure Eto is a chill guy and I'm sure he understands the situation I am in. Well, the honesty I have paid off, although I dare say that I should wrap all the updates up ASAP or there'll be no wiggle room for doing commissions. On top of that, Idk how long I can keep myself unemployed, but here I'm very struggling to save money, spending less on what I want to have and saving more for my future. I'm the only one who has that mindset since senior high, but for the past few years, I tend to spend quite a lot on what I want. I'm basically running out of space for displaying all my Naruto/Boruto action figures and one of the spaces is occupied for the large printer and scanner hybrid device.
After G[B]S is no more, I'm thinking of getting this blog out of the hiatus, basically bringing this back to life with all my diary and progression of modding or RL status, although not as frequent as you may think, that is. I just had a thought apparently that, out of curiosity, I decided to try if I can pull out the models and textures from Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 game. Now here's the weird thing.
The PAKs for the H.A.W.X. 2 at the first glance is like smth you can expect from archived files used by games running on Unreal Engine, but turns out it doesn't. The PAKs there are actually password-protected ZIP archives having its extension renamed as such. Coughing up the password out (from this link) is the first step. The real problem comes down to the model. They're formatted as BING, PMEM, and ANIMS (if the model is animated), to which this needed conversion first before being considered as usable. I wonder how Skyline can do his GTA plane mods in the past though... but I'll look this up another time.
Well, folks, those are the news. I hate to see the G[B]S go away like a distant dream, having people scattered around finding places for fresh and new information from people (I have nothing to carry with me anyway before it was nuked), but on the good side, I have lots of distant friends that I can have fun with without having to worry a heavy weight coming down to me as if I'm taking the burden of the people. It comes down to realization that Blaze might be bad today, but I pray to God that he'll turn to be good one day, if nothing goes wrong. I can only wish I'm getting paired up with lots of good people, but eh... one must prepare for the unexpected.
Until next time, readers. 👋 I'll try to make this blog live again, but no promises. Ik this blog was once popular because of me sharing some shady and obscure PS3 emulator for PC or for some other reasons, but eh... those times are over. I have nothing to share here that makes shit go viral or smth. 😑🤐
