I guess people are more focused on H.A.W.X. instead of H.A.W.X. 2...
Pretty much what the title says on the tin. While I found out skin mods in H.A.W.X. works in H.A.W.X. 2, the modding in its entirety is highly focused on H.A.W.X., and even then it was pretty much limited, bare bore, and there's nothing new to come by in 2025 (going 2026 in 2 months). On top of that, Microsoft ended Windows 10 support by the next day (it probably has happened on the other side of the world), and I'm not gonna bother my ass off on switching OSes to like, CachyOS, whilst doing modding works and/or video editing that only works on Windows (such as 3ds Max and VideoStudio), even though SOG (SomeOrdinaryGamers) encouraged people to not updating to Windows 11. TBH, I'm fairly surprised that the Rafale skin mod from Skyline only works in H.A.W.X. and not H.A.W.X. 2 due to different UV map used, and that the Super Hornet skin has wrong mapping on the tail rudder and flipped UV map.
It's even no surprise that Nexus has only 2 mods in place for H.A.W.X. 2, and Mod DB website that hosts H.A.W.X. mods has only a tiny number of mods in place. The Nugget Edition is basically dead, and that lotsbiss' tool that I found there only works if your extracted model is formatted as DAT (not BING, PMEM, and ANIMS as I said in previous posts pertaining this).
It's a shame, really. I'm particularly interested with Dassault fighter jets that I heard few times if you're familiar with Armée de l'Air v2.0 mod for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2 sim game (this mod was available exclusively at LockOnFiles website, now that it's no more, I wonder if it's still in a French website called Check Six Forums). A few that Ik of are Mirage F1 and Mirage IV.
Now here's the shocker 😨. Apparently, H.A.W.X. covers all planes that are from H.A.W.X. 2 😱 (just discovered this when I do Google search and then checked out the planes list over this page) except that the list in H.A.W.X. 2 is shrunk to like, only a number of planes to be put in there instead of, what, 30~40? 🤯😵 Oh boy, it seems like I'm modding the wrong game here 😅.
TBF, an arcade flight action game having planes with obscure and unheard names or designation is smth else, and H.A.W.X. and H.A.W.X. 2 is subject to this matter. I'm also surprised that H.A.W.X. even include the Jaguar here, one that Ik is also used by the French. Sad that they don't include Super Étendard in the list; it's known to be famous in the Falklands War, fielded by the Argentinians while launching the Exocets on enemy ships. Also the Alpha Jet, the one that closely resembles the Hawk but with two engines.
I and the H.A.W.X. 2 game has come a long way, and it's memorable enough to be known as one of the best games of the old, classical era. I've seen SlyAceZeta in the past pranked us with the "Split Heavens" game that clearly was H.A.W.X., and after all of this commotion, I'm thinking, "maybe this is where I can pull the models off, finally." I'm not sure if it still runs on modern OSes like Windows 10 or 11 (Sly might be running it on Win10, if not on console and whatnot), but we'll see. This is one big discovery that I'm talking about, though I have other things to do, including wrapping up the commissions. I guess no one will care if I rig the plane models to at least work on AC7 from H.A.W.X. game... (I've seen Fallout 4 modders porting in guns from Call of Duty games like it's none of their business.)
I'll be back with more posts to tell in due time.
